OGRES Motorcycle Club 2018 Summer Run Report

Leann, Joy, G-Man, Bomber, Gundy, Barry, Stephen, Smooth, Grim and Duke

The OMC members and their guests met at the appointed time and place.  OMC members present: G-Man, Bomber, Gundy, Smooth, Grim and Duke.  Guests: Barry, Stephen, Joy and Leann.

Departure Preparation in Boise

We saddled up and headed north to began our grand adventure.  Eight of us left from Boise while Duke and Stephen departed from their overnight stop in Washington State.

The decision to reverse the direction of this ride just got better and better as we proceeded.  Traffic was light and we only had a couple of knuckleheads on the way to Lowman.  It was cool and pleasant.

Lowman, Idaho

We stopped for a break at the Lowman Lodge to stretch our legs.  Grim had a great piece of cake and others grazed out of the goodies in Bomber's Tourpak.  Eventually we got back on the road and headed to Stanley.  The ride up over Banner Summit was smooth and it was really nice rolling into Stanley where we could view the Sawtooth mountains to our right for quite some time.

Bomber and the Sawtooth Mountains

We stopped at the Bridge Grill in Lower Stanley for lunch.  There was some excitement in the parking lot as we parked, a scuffle in the gravel but the gang wreck was resolved in a quick and timely manner.  Grim only wished he had remembered to take pictures. We sat on the deck and enjoyed a great meal while watching the river run in the wrong direction.

After our sojourn, we headed up to Challis.  G-Man expressed a desire to stop at the museum in Clayton and Grim summarily rejected the proposal but as we approached Clayton his heart was softened.  We stopped only to find the museum was closed.  Note to Grim:  Stick to your guns next time.

We stopped in Challis for gasoline and enjoyed a full octane fill-up at the Phillips 66.  We then headed upriver towards Salmon.  The temperature seemed to rise commensurate with the distance to Salmon.  It was very hot the whole distance but the road was fun and curved just enough to keep G-Man and Smooth awake.

We arrived at our hotel to find that Duke and Stephen had already arrived and were headed for the pool.  Duke was wearing an especially fashionable and handsome swimming suit and many of the OMC members and guests were envious.

The Shady Nook, Salmon, Idaho

We had dinner at our usual Salmon spot at the Shady Nook.  The air conditioning must have been broken in our dining room but the food was good despite the heavy amount of horse radish on Grim's steak.  His sinuses continue to be very clear and open.  We all headed back to the hotel only for Stephen and Leann to be treated to a very naked man modeling in front of his hotel balcony doors.  Thankfully, most of us missed the show.

Departure Preparation in Salmon, Idaho

The intrepid and brave awoke the next morning for their mediocre Stagecoach Inn free breakfast.  Duke was smart enough to get his breakfast elsewhere.  We met at the Sinclair up the street and departed from the gas station.  A mini gang wreck broke out in the parking lot involving a new bike but it was quickly resolved and no switch needed to be reset.  Luckily, highway pegs had just been installed to assist in the clearing of the gang wreck.  Again, Grim was remiss in taking photos.

We headed towards Darby and enjoyed a cool and uneventful ride on the fun and varied roads leading to our next stop.

Darby, Montana

Darby, Montana

We rolled into Darby while it was still cool and fairly quiet before Logger Days really got underway.  We entered our favorite shops but the usual ladies were not there.  It appears there is new ownership/management but the experience was still just as fun.  Duke bought a boom stick while G-Man was looking at antique looking deputy sheriff badges.  G-Man asked to see one and was holding it when the lady answered his inquiry about the price.  When G-Man heard it, it was as if the badge became molten hot as he dropped it quite quickly.  It is true a "Cheap Meter" sounds just like a Geiger Counter according to witnesses who were there.

Some hats were almost purchased but it turned out that candy and chocolate were the commodities that mostly left the store.  Grim definitely enjoyed the chocolate haystack he gets there every year.

After the appropriate amount of shenanigans had transpired, we climbed back on our motorcycles and headed for Lolo Pass.  The ride through the valley was nice as it was much cooler, with less traffic, than we had endured when traveling in the opposite direction in past years.  We stopped for gas in Lolo.  While gassing, Grim struck up a conversation with a local at the next pump.  The man was very congenial and gave Grim the scoop on where to eat lunch.

We finished gassing our bikes and headed up towards Lolo Pass in the search for the Lochsa Lodge and eventually found that it was a place we had stopped in a past year but did not realize there was a restaurant there.

Leann Pointing To Where the Bears.......

The Lochsa Lodge was even better than advertised.  It was cool and quaint inside and our waitress was delightful.  The food was absolutely wonderful and all the diners raved about it.  We lingered over our meals as it was such a nice experience that one was loathe to leave behind.  We eventually dragged ourselves out to the parking lot and disembarked back out onto the highway.

At this point in this narrative, Grim wants to apologize to the rest of the pack.  The leader of a run is supposed to keep the speed at a rate that can be absorbed by ALL members of the group to maximize the enjoyment of the group as a whole.  From Lochsa Lodge to Orofino, Grim rode too fast and furious for the aforementioned goal to be realized.  The speeds were too high during this stretch and made the ride less than enjoyable for the group as a whole.  Grim should have also made one more stop in Lowell, Idaho to break up this leg of the run.   It will be better next year.  My apologies.

The Best Western on the River, Orofino, Idaho

We rolled into Orofino and found that a white cage had parked where we normally park our bikes.  Grim tried to be a traffic cop and in the future will not make that mistake again.  We eventually parked and went inside to check in at the Best Western.  This is always a treat as the hotel is so nice as are the staff.  After a few refreshments, much of the crew hit the pool and hot tub.  It was very refreshing and fun.  If only there were rocks on the bottom of the pool.

We went to dinner at the great restaurant next door and really had a nice meal and dessert.  Everyone was in rare form and the laughter came often and in large volumes.  The company and mood was as good and as much fun as Grim can ever remember.  We stayed at the table for a long time as we were having too much fun to leave.  The spirit of fellowship was thick and sweet but we eventually headed back to the hotel for a good nights sleep.

G-Man, Bomber, Leann and Grim were finally able to head to their respective rooms after playing with every stuffed animal puppet that was on display in the lobby.  Gundy also joined in as we repeated all the funny story title/author jokes we could think of.

The next morning, all riders awoke and had a nice free breakfast in the hotel.  This hotel knows how to do it.

As luck would have it, there was a local car show in the City Park next door.  Most all went over the train trestle to check it out.  Many cars had not arrived yet but the best in show, in Grim's opinion, was the 1955 Chevy 4WD pickup that wasn't even in the show.  It was fun checking out the locals and their cars.  Grim doesn't know why he didn't take any photos, especially of the pickup truck.

We climbed aboard our iron horses and headed down the road towards Grangeville.  One could tell that we were getting closer to Grangeville as the temperature rose the closer the proximity.  We had one close call with a couple of deer going into Sites, Idaho but we were able to avoid them.  Duke must have had his deer whistle turned off.

After a quick ice cream break in Grangeville, we headed down White Bird grade.  The temperature really rose the closer we came to the bottom of the grade.  We continued down to the "banana belt" of Riggins and on through New Meadows.

The Pancake House, McCall, Idaho

We rolled into McCall where a fuel stop and lunch was planned.  Grim had never seen McCall so packed with people and traffic.  There must have been a family reunion for the whole state of California that weekend.  Holy cow.

We finally did make it to the Pancake House where we had a pretty nice meal.  Grim could eat breakfast every meal of the day.  Just remember to get the buckwheat pancakes and not the buttermilk ones, Bomber.

After that nice respite, we got back on the road and enjoyed a pretty nice ride down to Smith's Ferry except for a couple of idiot cages that got mixed up with us for a bit.  Oh well.  Our last break of the trip was held in the shade at Smith's Ferry as we finished up the last of the deli from Bomber's Tourpak.

We headed on down the road following a slow vehicle train but took our time as there was a lot of rafting and vacationing traffic.  Next year we will probably go through Cambridge and Weiser.

Reluctantly we ended up back where we started to end the Summer Run and say our goodbyes.

Current Club Members Attending the Summer Run

However, we did not conclude the closing ceremonies before Barry was inducted as the newest and youngest member of the OGRES Motorcycle Club.  Barry is a great addition to the OGRES MC and we look forward to our continued friendship and affiliation with Barry.  Congratulations to him and we are lucky to have him in the Club.  Grim will announce his Club moniker as soon as it is finalized.

All of us greatly enjoyed this Run and considered it one of the best ever, if not the best.

There were some participants who stated they would have rather been home working on their sprinkler systems.  Oh well, there are some things you just can't account for.

See you at the barbecue with the spouses in September.  More information about that to follow.

That's all, folks....

OGRES Motorycycle Club July 2018 Meeting Report

The Vice President with his New Road Glide Ultra

OMC members gathered at the Clubhouse at the appointed time.  Present:  Duke, Grim, G-Man, Rip City, Gundy and Bomber.  Absent:  Smooth and Krome.

Right off the bat, G-Man shocked the members by unveiling his new motorcycle...a brand new Harley-Davidson Road Glide Ultra.  Everyone was thrilled for G-Man to be able to enjoy a new motorcycle as the Smithsonian has not relented in trying to procure his "blue" Road King for their display of vintage motorcycles.  (Condolences to Mrs. G-Man for the loss of marble countertops and such for her kitchen.)

After checking out the V.P.'s new ride, we all headed out for Rudys Pub to get some grub.  The ride was uneventful with no gang wrecks imminent or otherwise.  It was a very nice ride albeit short as the members were especially hungry.

Rip City, Duke, Gundy, G-Man on his phone, Bomber with Grim (photographer)

There was a great deal of debate about what to order after we arrived at Rudy's.  I thought about getting the stroganoff but was sure Rip City would order that.  My fish street tacos were delish and the dessert was scrumptious.  Thanks to Duke for treating us to a great meal.

We had a great time and my ribs hurt from laughing about the topics including the men who work at sea.  The proper amount of time was spent badmouthing the members who were not in attendance.

Everyone was looking forward to the upcoming summer run.  If you don't have your reservations at the Best Western in Orofino, you will need to shop around as the place is completely booked.

That is all.

Iron Butt 1000 Ride 2018 This Coming Friday

The plan is to depart from the Chevron station at Gowen and I-84.  The depart time will be 6 a.m. to avoid riding late into the evening.

It is all freeway riding on the first day but it is pretty nice scenery once we get past Idaho Falls.  I have done this twice before but not on a touring bike.

We might even find Wayne Dzuback out there somewhere.

The route is Boise - Twin Falls - Idaho Falls - Missoula - Kellogg - Coeur d' Alene - Spokane - Ritzville - Tri-Cities - Pendleton.

It should take 15 to 17 hours with 10 minute gas stops and 30 meal breaks.

The night will be spent in Pendleton with a nice, serene ride back to Boise on the backroads of the Blue Mountains.

I know this seems like short notice but it sorta isn't as I have brought up this ride several times since the turn of the year in January (or maybe earlier).

No pressure or "sweat" about going but it could be fun...especially for those members that might think we don't ride enough miles on our OGRES MC sanctioned Runs.

OGRES Motorycycle Club 2018 Spring Run Report

Rip City, Bomber, Stephen (guest), Barry (guest), Grim, Duke and G-Man

Looking out the garage door, the morning appeared to be bright, shiny and balmy.  So Grim decided to forgo his usual packing job.  A light jacket and vest seemed enough.  So on the way.

The members and guests met at the appointed place albeit with Grim being tardy.  Present: Bomber, G-Man, Grim, Rip City and Barry (guest).  Duke and Stephen (guest) caught up with us in Challis later in the day.  Absent: Krome, Smooth and Gundy.

Duke's son was testing for a new belt in Karate and the testing was not to start until noon.  It is always interesting the new and imaginative excuses Duke continues to make up every year so he can sleep in on Run days.

As usual, Bomber had the TourPak full of treats and goodies and Rip City had the drug store.

After a short safety briefing, we headed out to Mountain Home.  Grim realized quickly he had underdressed as he was freezing his "hair" off.  A quick stop in Fairfield was needed to make a phone call to make sure Duke grabbed my jacket before he left town.  Bomber gave Grim an extra jacket and that helped a lot.

Gladly, the temperature rose a bit as we approached Arco although we were rained on just a bit before rolling past the city limits.

Traditional Pickle's Place Club Photo

We made our traditional stop at Pickle's Place in Arco for lunch.  We found our table and Grim was chagrined to find the restaurant was out of their signature buffalo burgers.  So Grim settled for a patti melt with an egg.  Rip City had a cotton candy shake along with some chicken dish that was unusual.  G-Man was disappointed they didn't have a shrimp melt but he carried on somehow.

We stopped at the local gas station after lunch and happened to cross paths with some folks driving their vintage cars to the Challis car show the next day.  One gentleman was driving a 1955 Chevy 210 sedan.  I tried to trade him straight across for the Road Glide but he wouldn't bite on the offer.  Their were four cars in all including a 68ish Camaro and Chevelle.  They took off ahead off us due to G-Man, as usual, being the last to get on his bike.  At least he remembered to put on his helmet.  More about that later.

The OMC members went on towards Mackey and came through one area where the highway was threatened to be overrun by water flooding.  Very interesting.

As we entered the outskirts of Mackey, we caught up the to vintage cars.  They rolled into town but turned left mid-town instead of rolling straight through.  As we rolled by, their mission became clear. They were stopping at every "watering hole" on their way to Challis.

We continued on and enjoyed a headwind, instead of the usual blistering side wind, as we rolled past the reservoir and Mount Borah.  It was a nice part of the ride especially rolling through the twisty canyon.  We arrived at Challis Hot Springs where we checked in and got all the rooms straight.

We quickly hit the pool where we found the water to be delightfully warm.  Rip City and Grim reinvented the wildly popular game of "catch the rock" but were unsuccessful in getting other Club members to join in.  Grim's bruises disappeared after a couple of days.

We grudgingly exited the pool to get ready to go to town.  We rolled into town and took over our usual table at the Tea Room.  Grim hoped it as better than last year.  It was.  The ribeye steak was scrumptious.  Grim guessed what "alfredo chicken" thing Rip City was going to order so Rip City ordered another Rip City type thing.

The Tea Room is only open until 8 p.m. so we were going to order for Duke and his guest if they did not show up by 7:30 p.m.  Luckily, they rolled up at 7:20 p.m.  They ordered the meal that Grim was going to order them anyway so all would have been good.  Duke picked up the dessert tab and Grim's chocolate eclair was delightful.

The Club members and guests headed back to the Hot Springs and received special permission to stay in the pool after closing hours as long as we didn't get out of control and would lock the place up behind us.  We did lock the place up behind us.

After a warm but peaceful night's sleep, we arose to a great breakfast put on by the staff.  It was very difficult not to overeat.  We finished up and headed out to get ready to start the ride.

Rip City's After Breakfast Nap

The Club members headed out in the coolness of the morning and headed to Challis to the big car show.  We actually got an early start due to the staff honoring our request for an earlier breakfast.

At the Challis Car Show

We parked under a shade tree and wandered through the parks checking out all the vintage cars.  They had come from far and wide and the placards on their windshields showed the actual mileage on how far they had traveled to be here.  Grim had not seen that at a car show before.  Pretty cool.  It was a great little car show with friendly people and really nice vintage cars.  A fun time.

After getting our noses full of rust, we headed down to Stanley.  The route was the usual twisting zen experience.  Very nice with most cars moving out of our way and very little construction hassle.  The temperature was moderate, with a proper jacket, and the sun was healing.

Stanley, Idaho

We stopped in Stanley to get gas for the antique motorcycle in the Club, nature breaks and ice cream.  Stanley is always a nice stop as it sits right at the foot of the greatest mountains in the world.

The members saddled back up and we headed towards Banner Summit.  As we got out of Stanley, we began to pass many bicyclists headed the opposite direction.  Grim then remembered the Lyle Pearson 200, an annual bicycle race to Ketchum, was in progress.  Singles, pairs and four person teams compete to race 200 miles between Boise and Ketchum.  As we passed Banner Summit, a relay zone, there was a plethora of competitors and their support teams staged there.  Pretty cool.

Lowman, Idaho

The intrepid members rolled down into Lowman where the Sergeant-At-Arms decided we were stopping for lunch.   We sat outside and ordered from the window just like "downtown".  Grim had some great sun-brewed ice tea that hit the spot.  Bomber ordered the biggest plate of Nachos this side of the Rio Grande.  The huckleberry ice cream and cherry pie was delicious.  Thanks for lunch, Duke !  As were were leaving, a game of darts broke out inside.  The match quickly escalated to "dodge the dart" but no one was impaled.  Rip City beat Grim soundly just as he did in the early "catch the rock" competition.

We gathered up our gear and began to get ready to leave.  As we were firing up our bikes, another group of Harley riders pulled into the lot and were patiently waiting for us to vacate our spots as their is not a lot of parking at the Lodge.  We rolled up to the exit and were poised to hit the road.  G-Man, as usual, was the last to climb onto his bike and, again, forgot to put on his helmet leaving it on the ground.  He kick-standed his bike, albeit on a hill, and went for his helmet.  As the antique purple....er....blue beast skidded down the hill on it's kickstand, one of the waiting bikers grabbed Scarecrow....er...G-Man's helmet and he was able to get it on his noggin.  Meanwhile, Grim had estimated he could get the entire group on the road before an approaching semi truck reached us.  Duke believes Grim would have been correct had it not been for the helmet antics that ensued.  At least no one was hurt, maimed or killed.  A gang wreck was avoided.

The gang...er...club members decided to ride home via Idaho City.  Although Grim was superstitious about the route, it was decided he needed to get over it.  The route to Idaho City was very fun and nothing approaching the 15 year old previous gangs wrecks occurred.  Rolling into Idaho City is was clear a human population explosion had erupted in Idaho City.  We found out a 100 mile enduro dirt bike race was concluding with another 100 race coming up the following day.

After gassing up, we headed on down towards the Capital City.  It was a nice sweeping ride and we flowed past Lucky Peak and into town.  All in all, a nice leg of the journey.

We stopped at Gowen and Federal Way to say our goodbyes.  Handshakes and hugs were exchanged but everyone was reticent to leave and we continued to talk and exchange friendly jibes and lies.  Reluctantly we climbed onto our bikes and headed our respective directions towards our homes.  What a great Run we had enjoyed.

Do those deer whistles really work?

Which way did they go, George, which way did they go?

OMC Iron Butt Ride June 29th and 30th 2018

2nd Annual Iron Butt

Grim is going to do a 1000 mile Iron Butt Ride on Friday June 29th.  The course will be the same one as we have done previously.  Basically it is Boise - Missoula - Kellogg - Tri-Cities - Pendleton.

It is all freeway riding but the majority of the ride, past Idaho Falls, is very scenic.

With 30 minute meal breaks and 10 minute fuel breaks, the ride takes 16 to 18 hours.

Liftoff would be at 6 a.m., at Gowen and I-84,  to get an early start and hopefully avoid riding after dark at the end of the ride.

Saturday June 30th would be the leisurely ride home on the backroads from Pendleton to Boise.

Grim will go solo if no one has the "hair" to go with him.

Leader of the Pack - Refresher

Leader of the Pack

Be predictable and smooth.

Have a basic pre-ride briefing outlining rest stops, lunch stop and such.

Designate lead and sweep.

Don’t pull out from any stop until everyone can do so safely.  Avoid “speed racer’  acceleration and unnecessary passing movements.

Accelerate and decelerate slowly and gradually to avoid yo-yo and accordion effects.  This includes initial movements and speed limit signs.

Allow the group to “bunch up” at controlled intersections when possible before proceeding.

Don’t pull over until it can be done predictably and with enough room for all.

Don’t pull out until it can be done predictably and with enough room for all.

Go the speed limit or, at most, 5 above depending on road and traffic conditions unless group is previously advised.

Don’t leave anyone behind due to speed or ability.  No reason for anyone to have to catch up.

If all riders don’t make it through a controlled intersection, the group will slow down in the right hand lane or pull over if roadway does not allow.

The Leader’s directions override everyone else unless there is danger involved.

Be predictable and smooth.

You could be leading at any time depending on traffic, split groups, etc.

A few notes on sweeping. You could become the sweeper at any time.  Unexpected turns, the bike at the back waits, etc.

May 2018 OGRES Motorcycle Club Meeting Report

Gundy, G (MotoCross) Man, Krome, Grim, Rip City and Bomber

All members in attendance met at the Clubhouse at the appointed time.  Present: Bomber, Rip City, Grim, Krome, G (MotoCross) Man and Gundy.  Absent:  Duke and Smooth.

Some time had to be taken to admire Gundy's new ride, cool red and chrome additions to Krome's ride and some changes to Grim's ride.  While we were gawking at the new stuff, the Smithsonian called G-Man and said they wanted the purple....er.....cobalt blue exhibit returned to the museum.

Rip City suggested we go to a premium burger joint over in Caldwell and also that he was going to lead the Club.  We all thought it was a great idea and took off....took off....okay, G-Man is finally ready to launch...took off westbound on Fairview.  We made it two lights before we almost had...you guessed it...a gang wreck.  Unbeknownst to us, Rip City had put a new device on his Indian that made every traffic signal turn immediately yellow as we approached them.  Cool, huh?

At the second traffic signal, Krome thought that Rip City and Bomber were going to roll through the yellow light.  Well, he was half right.  Bomber went through the yellow light, as predicted, but Rip City stopped.  What happened next was some fantastic motorcycle handling by Krome as he locked up his rear brake, slid sideways ominously heading for Indian-land, released the brake which straightened up his bike and went harmlessly to the left of the Rip City Red Indian.  An impressive black cloud of rubber smoke lingered in the air smelling like death.  (Good line, eh?)

You never know when a gang wreck might rear it's ugly head.

The rest of the ride was uneventful as Rip City did an excellent job of leading the Club to the target restaurant.  Yes, he really did a great job.

Grim thinks it was the M & M Drive-in or something similar.  Or Grim is just hungry for a sweet treat.  We all ordered great big burgers except for the one member who likes to be different.  I won't name names but he ordered a chicken burger.  And tots.  And a cotton candy...er...chocolate shake.

We all were "excited" to sit at the stainless steel table, shown above, until we sat down.  Grim's seat was very comfortable but G-Man was afraid his behind was going to swallow his stool so we moved over and took over the tables by the front window.  The food was great and the conversation was mostly geared to talking trash about Duke and Smooth and their ancestry.  We also did talk about motorcycles, women in spandex and how to choose a bicycle saddle.

We said our goodbyes to Gundy and Rip City and headed back to Boise.  We all wanted to take the back road using Lincoln and Joplin and G-Man said he knew the best way.  Yeah, Grim allowed G-Man to lead again.  Yeah, I know.

Everything was smooth as we looped around and landed at the beginning of Marble Front Road.  We flew down Marble Front Road...and then we passed the left turn onto Mason...then we passed the left had turn onto Wells...and Grim figured G-Man knew another way to avoid the loose gravel ahead.  Grim was wrong.  As we topped the hill, we hit the gravel and all Grim could think about was his new fender and engine guard.  We managed to keep our bikes upright and made it to Middleton Road.

This is where G-Man went right past Lincoln but was nice enough to point at the turn we should have taken as Bomber, G-Man and Krome went past it.  Grim made the turn, hyper aware, as he had already been "graveled".  We cruised the rest of the way in peaceful bliss with Grim back in the lead.

Krome peeled off for home whilst the remaining trio stopped by Bomber's new digs to check out the site for the OGRES barbecue in September.  Wow, are we in for a treat.  Bomber's new shop may also be in the running as the new OGRES Clubhouse.

Synopsis:  Rip City did a great job leading the Club and G (MotoCross) Man...well...!?!?

Anyway...it was a great meeting and gang wrecks were avoided.  Grim's mouth hurts from grinning as he writes this.

OGRES Night Out With The Spouses

Everyone who attended remarked what a nice evening it was.  I won't go into detail who was in attendance as it is clear by the photos except for the photographer, G-Man.  Thanks for the photos.

Many thanks for Duke and his generosity.  A member remarked that he felt bad about Duke picking up the check.  I reminded him that I was always diligent in properly thanking Duke for his generosity by accompanying Duke to a sporting goods store or motorcycle dealership and helping him spend a lot of money on himself.  Right?

January 2018 OGRES MC Meeting Report

Door Prize

What a great meeting!  I believe the attending members achieved the mission statement of the OMC by have the maximum fun possible!

Present: Bomber, Grim, G-Man. Krome, Gundy and Duke.  Absent: Smooth and Rip City.

Duke brought his piping hot Doritos Tacos, regular tacos, burritos and cinnamon delights for our enjoyment.  And enjoy we did along with beverages furnished by G-Man.  Delicious!

Duke also shared a super bitchin' find that he had "stolen" from a local store.  The item was a beautiful blue finish with special limited engraving.  Wow!

Duke, Bomber, Gundy, G-Man, Bomber and Grim (photographer)

Grim passed out the new updated OMC Constitution and By-Laws and the members reviewed the contents and Grim discussed the updates that occurred due to recent voting changes by the members.

Dues were collected by Grim and he gave an accounting of where all the monies are spent.

We then discussed the upcoming OMC Events and Runs.  It was voted that March will not be a night out with the spouses due the the scarcity of meetings since we voted to only have meetings every other month.  Instead, we will come up with another activity, besides the September barbecue, to share with the spouses.

Members were invited to get their reservations in with the Challis Hot Springs for the Spring Run.  Grim has made his reservations but did NOT reserve the remainder of the rooms.  Each member is responsible for making their own reservations.

It was also discussed that the Summer Run would be traveled in reverse from previous years and reservations are the responsibility of each member.

Finally, discussion occurred reference the Fall Run.  Due to complications with other events in Joseph, the ride will occur on a Thursday and Friday the final week of August.  Reservations should be made, by each member, in a timely manner.  At the time of this meeting, all rooms were available except for the room already reserved by Grim.

We then had our uproariously fun "white elephant" exchange.  Some of the "white elephant" gifts included a toy Harley-Davidson car, a $25 Lowes gift certificate, a Chevron "Patty Police" car, a book, cargo net, patches, stuff I can't remember and a $500 High Desert Harley-Indian gift certificate.  Yes, a $500 dollar gift certificate was given by and won by unnamed members.  Holy cow.  Grim said a superb "white elephant" gift and didn't state a dollar limit so the gift exchange was a little more interesting than usual.

Next a drawing was held for the door prize and Krome came out on top.  He won a complete set of Harley-Davidson 100th Anniversary patches and pins that were released in 2003.  Grim had to take the Indian Anniversary patches home since the lone Indian owning member was not present to win.

G-Man had printed out some interesting looking maps but must have forgotten to share.  Grim hopes he brings them to the next meeting.

No doubt there was much more fun and witty repartee that occurred at the meeting as my ribs were sore from laughing so much.  Those who attended were the lucky recipients of all the fun including the trash talk that was directed at missing members.  Both were not present through no fault of their own.....but that really doesn't matter, does it?!

See all y'all at the next meeting or sooner.

2018 New Years Day Ride/Breakfast Report

G-Man, Smooth, Duke, Bomber and Rip City (Photographer)

Intrepid OMC members met at the Egg Factory for the traditional OMC New Years Day Ride and/or Breakfast.

Present: Rip City, Bomber, G-Man, Smooth and Duke.  Absent: Grim, Krome and Gundy.  (I think Gundy's absence is Grim's fault as the wrong e-mail was inputted.).  (Gundy....let me know if you get this.)

Smooth exclaimed it was a great time and we needed to continue this event.  Other attendees agreed.

Rip City sent Grim a text, with the above picture, asking him where the heck he was.  Unfortunately, Grim had "spaced" the event even after really looking forward to it.  Grim was still sleeping and missed the text.  Dang.  Double demerits.

Next year for sure.

See you at the meeting tonight.
