Club Sponsored Spring Run Confirmed for Sure
The OMC sponsored Spring Run will be Friday June 3rd and Saturday June 4th. We will spend Friday night in Joseph, Oregon at the Indian Lodge Motel. They have 15 rooms open at this time. They also have 7 cottages but they are about 5 blocks from the main lodge.
Those who have done this ride before have knowledge that this is a great ride and this lodge is a fun place to stay.
You must call the Indian Lodge Motel at (541) 432-2651 to make your reservations. This place is very popular and fills up fast.
This ride is open to all members and whoever the members wish to invite. No cages.
More information will be given at the March 3rd Club Kick-off Meeting and on the OMC website.

Cut and Colors (Part Two)
| Lil Joes 4 Pocket Cut |
A few more etiquette items came to mind:
1. No patches or pins from other clubs or affiliations should be on your OGRES cut, i.e., H.O.G., A.B.A.T.E., A.M.A., Starz, Temple Riders, etc. This is an OGRES cut and OGRES don't share well.
2. P.O.W. patches and Veteran patches are allowed.
If you have a cut picked out and you have your colors, I would wait to sew on any more than the back patch and the chest patch until you attend the March 3rd meeting where all will be discussed. Keep the area right above the right pocket clear as I have a patch idea for that area to match up with the left OGRES chest patch.
Placement of the official Colors are discussed and illustrated earlier in this blog. Call me if you have any questions because it's sucks to have holes in your cut if you have to move stuff.
The Sergeant at Arms is bringing food and everyone is welcome to bring something if you wish.
The official OGRES website will be up soon. I will advise and send links.
Club Sponsored Fall Run is Confirmed for Sure

| Challis Hot Springs Breakfast Gazebo |
![]() |
| Challis Hot Springs Main House |
The OMC sponsored Fall Run will be Friday August 26th and Saturday August 27th. We will spend Friday night 3 miles outside of Challis, Idaho at Challis Hot Springs Bed and Breakfast. The hot springs only has eight rooms. Two of the rooms have been reserved. That leaves six rooms.
The six remaining rooms are first come first served. Make your own reservations at (208) 879-4442. Tell Gretchen you are with me. When the six rooms are gone, you will need to take a tent for the campground or stay in town. No sleeping on the floor or doubling up in rooms.
The folks at the Hot Springs have been personal friends of mine for years and I want to treat them right because they will treat us right.
Gretchen will fix us breakfast and will do dinner (for a charge) if we ask. For those not able to get Hot Springs rooms in time, you will need to pay for her breakfast as it comes only with a room normally.
This ride is open to members and whoever they want to invite. No cages (cars).
More info to follow at the Club Meeting on March 3rd. I just wanted to give everyone a heads up before the outside public snatches up the remaining rooms.
Peter's Alterations - Colors Sewn To Go
There is only one place I go to have any tailoring whatsoever. I especially take my leathers to have colors sewn or leathers altered at:
Peter's Alterations
426 North Orchard Street
Boise, Idaho
It is right next to McDonald's between Morris Hill and Clinton. He does absolutely impeccable work and has decent prices.
It usually takes a week. He does not take debit or credit cards. Take some cash with you.
And you can have a Big Mac while you're at it.
Cut and Colors
Just a few tips on Cut and Colors etiquette:
1. Colors only go on a cut (vest). Never put colors on jackets.
2. Your cut should large enough to fit over your jacket.
3. Cut/Colors are never worn in a cage (vehicle).
4. Cut/Colors are never worn under a jacket.
5. You never allow anyone to take your cut.
6. Never wear your cut if you are doing something nefarious.

Finally...But Well Worth the Wait
![]() |
| Lil Joes 4 Pocket Vest |
My Lil Joes vest arrived last Friday but the door bell was not heard by anyone and USPS went on their merry way. I had to wait all weekend to go and pick it up today. I immediately opened the box and put the vest on. Perfection. Fit and finish are perfect.
I received the Lil Joes 4 pocket vest, black lining, no collar in 3Xlarge. I am going to buy another one when I save up some money so I can have one plain and one with OGRES patches. I'm glad I held out for the four pockets. The workmanship is nonpareil.
I will show it off at the next Club meeting or I will be glad to get with you to show it to you or to help in getting one for you. It is well worth the money and the time.

Roller Coaster Ride

| My Lil Joes Vest |
So I received a vest from Lil Joes Leather week before last. It was too small. Unfortunately, I was in one of my OCD attacks where my brain shuts down or I have tunnel vision. I should have kept it to have Little Og or the V. P. try on. But I sent it back. Dumb. Sorry.
Then it turned out they did not have the vest I wanted (four pocket, no collar, black lining 3Xlarge) in stock in my size. They are also involved in moving their factory, et al, to a new location. Other vendors I called confirmed this. So I figured I would be waiting til April for my vest.
Today Mike, from Lil Joes, sent me an e-mail advising me he was going to have my vest made right away at the current factory. One of the last ones to be made before the move. I should have it by next week.
I will have it for "church" in February and all can check it out. Unless you want to order now while Mike still has some stock. Let me know and I will help. There are also some other vendors to check for stock.
Yippee...!

Constancy in a Sea of Change
I'm thinking the Club should sponsor three rides, for sure, every year. Maybe, the Spring Run would be the first weekend in June every year. An overnighter to Joseph, Oregon.
Then of course there would be the mid-summer Iron Butt ride.
Then a Fall Run on the last weekend in August. An overnighter to Challis.
Of course, these rides would only be a foundation to the plethora of rides and adventures to be enjoyed throughout the season.

Guinea Pig
I thought maybe we could save some money by ordering as a club (three or four vests). It turns out by doing that the order turns into a "special order". If some one needs to make a size exchange, then there is a restocking fee for a special order. I think it's important to maintain the ability to exchange.
I am going to call Lil Joes and talk to Mike in person. We have been having an e-mail conversation wherein I have divulged all my body measurements that were relevant to fitting a vest. I am going to follow up with a phone call tomorrow and nail down prices and such. I have a feeling the vests he is selling on eBay are seconds or special orders not picked up or exchanged.
I am going to buy a 2XL and we can all look at it, try it on, and generally fondle the fine leather. No red liners...! Yuck...
I will be the guinea pig for the Club because that's the kind of guy I am. Yeah, I said pig.
(To be a member, you can buy any leather vest you want for your Club patches. Or use a current one that is blank. I am only looking into the Lil Joes vests because they are the best and have the breast pockets that look the best with the Club patches.)
Yeah, I know...

Lil Joes Legendary Leather Vests on eBay
I wear a XXL in a Harley vest and everything I have read says to buy a Lil Joes vest one size bigger than your t-shirt size. My t-shirt size is an XXL but I like 'em baggy. The front patches, being shipped, look alot nicer on a vest with front pockets like this one. These vests are top of the line. I am investigating and will update.

Long Time Runnin'
The cats in the above picture are responsible for my Harley addiction. I blame them all. Especially the one in all black on the right. Fortunately he is one of by best friends. The cat in the hat I also initially met because of Harleys and riding. We have become great friends. The "young" friend in the grey shirt no longer rides a Harley, or any facsimile thereof and has been lost. Don't let this happen to you...!
The remaining three of us are the charter members of the club. We have rode Harleys together for a long time and feel this "club ride" will be a gas. Let's ride.
Yeah, I know.
Final Cut

| Final Cut |
This is what you will see on the back of the cuts of the members of the OMC. I am getting my cut from:
http://blackmagicapparel.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/Motorcycle-Vests.html
More information on the symbolic nature and details of the patch will be available on the website coming soon to the world wide web.
The charter and by-laws will also be on the website. Simple stuff.
Oh yeah, we are going to have fun with it. Invitations will be extended and inquiries welcome at ogresmc@gmail.com.

| Rendition Submitted |
The idea to start a motorcycle club has been germinating in my mind for about two years. Although I have been riding my Harley for about 9 years, the last two years have found me off the bike due to work and family constraints. I have missed the companionship of like minded "tar heads".
![]() |
| Third Rendition |
I began drawing possible back patch designs while in different training classes at work. The training is mostly boring and repetitious. Once my mind worked out the theme and such, I went through about five transmogrifications before coming up with the final patch. I did not want the three piece outlaw type of back patch but one that pulled all the information and rockers into one piece.
![]() |
| Second Rendition |
I partnered with a close friend and partner in this crime to have the patches created. He and one other long time friend and rider comprise the three Charter members. We drew straws and I pulled the shortest one electing me to be the president of the club.
This blog will be my ramblings, some history, philosophy and other nonsense. A club website for news, pictures gallery, ride calendar and such will follow soon.
![]() |
| First Rendition |
This erstwhile club is mostly to get a bunch of people together every month for "church" and to motivate/promulgate rides and networks for many sundry activities.
Oh, there will be an Iron Butt ride every summer solstice for sure.
Most of all, I want to spend more time on my Fat Boy Lo, with a bunch of fun folks, instead of spending so much time at work.
Yeah, I want to have fun with it. Lotsa fun. Almost feeling guilty because it is so much fun. Because if I am Serious and you are Roebuck, who is minding the store...?
