OGRES Challenge Coin and Pins Report

I have worked with this vendor for many years.  Randy, the vendor, has done coins for me and the Police Department.  He also has done pins for the N.B.A. that I ordered through him.  He is the one who vendored the coins I have given the Club:

He did receive the pins about ten days ago.  They were not done to the above specs that I insisted upon.  Especially the number 15 that I really wanted to "pop"  It was merely engraved on the front of the pin.  I also did not like the finish.  Randy immediately got with the makers and the new pins are supposed to be in production as we speak.  He sent the incorrect ones to me but I don't want them and will send them back to him.  I am not happy.

The coins are en route to Idaho right now.  Yesterday they were in Tennessee and they are supposed to arrive in Moscow on Saturday.  Randy says he is driving them down to me on Monday.  I am not happy.

Randy says the coin and pin facility has been backed up lengthening the delivery time of the coins and pins.  We ordered the coins on March 15th and the pins on March 18th.  I am not happy.

I will update you as I am able to get more information from Randy.

OMC Meeting July 11 at 6:30 P.M.

REMINDER !  The July meeting will be on July 11 due to Independence Day falling on the first Thursday of the month.  We will meet at the Clubhouse at 6:30 p.m. to ride together to a meeting place yet to be determined.  OGRES challenge coins will be distributed.

OMC Iron Butt Ride 2013

Our intrepid Vice President, G-Man, pulled the trigger and started his solo adventure on June 21st at 5:30 a.m.  He officially was not late since he was the only one riding!  G-Man rode until 1:15 on June 22nd.  His route included Pendleton, Deer Lodge, Dillon and Jerome.

That's 19 hours and 45 minutes on the bike for 1232 miles.  G-Man did stop for a 15 minute lunch break and a 20 minute supper break.  (Hopefully there were some other breaks.)  This set a new record for consecutive miles for G-Man.  A gauntlet has been thrown.  At least to me.

There is that old saying:  If you want to travel far, travel with others.  If you want to travel fast, travel alone.

OMC 2013 Spring Ride Report

The OMC 2013 Spring Run began almost as planned on Friday morning.  Present: Duke, Grim, Rip City, Bomber, Big Easy, Smooth and Krome.  Guests: Jay, Lance, Nolan, Chris and Brennan.  Absent:  Zeus.

The main group left the starting point belatedly after V.P. G-Man finally arrived to get the show on the road. G-man, Rip City, Smooth, Big Easy, Krome, Bomber, Chris and Jay were in the initial group. Club members who are on time (early) are hereby cleared to leave the V.P. behind when the starting time arrives.

The ride to Arco reportedly was uneventful and the group stopped to eat at Pickles in Arco.  I have not received the official group shot by the giant rocking chair as of yet.  One lady at the restaurant did identify the members as the Orgies.  Hopefully they were not demonstrating the name at the time.  As far as I know the first group arrived at the Challis Hot Springs without incident.

Grim, Duke, Lance, Nolan and Brennan left Boise at 1100 hrs.  The late start was due to a business emergency on the part of the guests and a philanthropic mission on the part of the members.  We stopped for gas at Picabo and the President neglected to tell the rest of the guys that lunch was in Arco. Hence, the others had ordered lunch although the Sergeant at Arms had taken this trip before and knew the drill.  However, the President is very flexible and quickly ordered food.  This group continued on through Arco, a quick pit stop in Mackay (where Duke lost his glasses), and on to Challis Hot Springs.

The two groups were united at Challis and friendly jibes and lies were exchanged.  All the rooms were full and after a great meal put on by Pam and Dave, our stomachs were also full.  Shortly after dinner, the pool was soon full of OGRES.  More lies and jibes followed with some rule breaking in the form of tossed rocks.  Or maybe those rocks just dropped out of the heavens.  Yeah, that's it.

Krome, Chris, Smooth, Grim and Rip City soon adjourned to the Octagon for a friendly game of cards. Rip City had two Diet Pepsi bottles in a vain attempt to stay awake so his fellow card players would not have to protect him from himself.  A curfew of 12 midnight was set for the end of the game.  As luck would have it, Rip City did not make it to the witching hour "donating" his chips to the other players.  Pure humility and good manners precludes me from disclosing who the "big" winner turned out to be.

I apologize as I don't know what others activities transpired during the game.  I do know G-Man was present for a little tutoring in the art of card playing so he will be in on the game at Hagerman.  Bring your money, V.P.

The next morning found the club in the pool around 7 a.m.  The fresh water felt grand and it was difficult to get out but breakfast called at 8 a.m.  Kathy had fixed a great coffee cake and hash brown/cheese/meat delight in a pan.  (I can't remember what she called it.....much more grand of a name.)  We left way too much food behind but motorcycles have a weight limit.

The thirteen strong motorcade left the Hot Springs after the obligatory photography session and goodbyes to the staff.  Gretchen, Bob and Lorna were missed by the Club as they were out of town for the duration of our visit.  A short safety briefing preceded our departure.

The sight of the sixteen motorcycles along the way was very cool and we passed a lot of riders going the other way.  Sailing was smooth until the Club ventured upon a scene from Rawhide.  There were cattle along the road between Challis and Clayton and after the bovines were spooked they crossed the road many times amongst the riders.  Everyone made it past the beasts without collision and we rolled in safely to Stanley.  No regrouping was needed as it seemed most of the traffic was uphill and not down.

The Club and guests continued on to Lowman running into only one "bump in the road" where there had been a landslide and the road was down to one lane.  We caught up to the motorcycle that had passed us earlier.  I was pretty sure it was a Yamahaaa as I could smell the rice burning when the couple aboard passed us.

We rolled into Crouch and had to park in various areas because the business parking lots we parked in last year had blocked their parking with chairs and such! Molotov cocktails were in order but glass bottles are hard to find.

Some had barbecue and some did not.  The service was lousy but the ribs were tasty.  It's a good thing we were not in a hurry.  I was disappointed that Rip did not model his foreskin shirt as he has in years past at this juncture in the trip.  Duke...thanks again for lunch.

We loaded back up and continued down to the lowlands.  Our large group had stayed together pretty much the whole way.  I think the lack of the motorcycle rally in Crouch and the Lyle Pearson bicycle race being moved the previous week cut down on the traffic greatly and made for some smooth sailing.

A smooth ride and a great time.  And no one got arrested.  That I know of.

Challis Hot Springs

The following members have made their reservations at Challis Hot Springs:  G-Man (and guest), Bomber, Smooth, Grim, Rip City, Duke and Krome (and guest). 

The Hot Springs nor I have heard from Zeus or Big Easy.  Please let me know whether or not you will be attending.  I just need a head count so we know the room availability. 

There is one room left along with a smaller room with bunk beds.

Dinner will be fixed that night for us by the Hot Springs Staff.  Bring $25 per person to pay for the meal.  The dinner has always been worth it.  Breakfast is provided as part of your room fee.

There may be some card playing involved. 

OMC May 2 Meeting Report - Surprise !

The OMC May 2nd meeting was held in Kuna at 7 p.m.  Present: G-Man, Krome, Bomber and Grim.  Not present: Big Easy, Rip City, Zeus, Duke and Smooth.

When we rolled into the parking lot at the Peregrine Steak and Spirits, we were surprised to find the restaurant had magically transformed into El Tesoro Mexican Restaurant.  We forged ahead and ordered Mexican food although my mouth was set for a ribeye with a baked potato.  They even came up with an Arnold Palmer (lemonade and ice tea) for Krome.  I thought it should have been called a Lee Trevino.

The official challenge coins and pins have not been delivered as yet.  I will let all know when they get here and the first shot at those will probably be at the OMC Spring Run.

Past, future and possible rides were discussed along with stories (lies) about hunting trips.  A great time was had by all even though Krome experienced a cage driver who tried to share his lane with him on the ride home.

OMC Meeting May 2nd at 7 P.M. in Kuna

At the last meeting, the Prez advised the attending members that all the rooms were currently in his name at Challis Hot Springs.  The Prez was fine with this but all members were asked to RSVP with him so that all 7 rooms could be accounted for.  (See the Blog Post of the March 7 Meeting Report.)  As of now, only Duke has RSVPed. 

G-Man sort of RSVPed by asking if he and his brother, Bomber, could have the two bed room on the main floor but I wasn't sure of the commitment.  G-Man...you will want to call and reserve that room ASAP if you want it.

So the Prez called Gretchen today and gave her his and Duke's credit card information to hold their rooms.  All the other rooms are fair game.  There are seven total rooms.  Duke and I have two of the seven.  You do the math.

First Ride of the Year

Last night Duke asked me what time we were riding tomorrow.  I immediately put out an e-mail to the Club to get out the troops to ride.

Rip City just had knee surgery earlier in the day (too much prayin'), Krome was on his Street Glide in Oregon with Sonjia, Smooth had changed his e-mail address and G-Man didn't know of the e-mail until I texted him about another Club matter.

After the dust settled...Duke, Smooth, G-Man and myself left the McDonalds at Linder and Chinden around 11 a.m.  We rode through Star, Middleton, Notus, Wilder (Rip City's old stompin' grounds), Homedale and stopped in Marsing for some food.  We pulled up to Caba's restaurant alongside a multitude of Harleys.  On the sidewalk were members of the Iron Cross Warriors, the Iron Warriors and other sundry bikers.  We faced off with the other Clubs and a rumble almost broke out.  In fact, an Iron Warrior from Bridgeport, Connecticut almost talked us to death and we barely got out of there because he wouldn't shut up regaling us about the wonders of this and that.

The upshot was that Caba's has closed their restaurant and turned the whole space into a bar that also allows smoking.  Not where we wanted to be.  We went next door to a new restaurant that said Pizza on the building.  Turns out more than pizza is served and we had a meal better than any I have had at Caba's.

We climbed back aboard our bikes and one of the OGRES grew lace panties and headed straight home to make peace with his wife since he had deserted her during the cleaning of the garage.  I am not going to mention any name.

Duke, Smooth and I headed to Walter's Ferry on the south side of the river and then rode through Kuna where we stopped for much needed dipped ice cream cones at the Arctic Circle.

Reluctantly, we all headed home after that.  No ride is ever long enough.

Yeah, I know.

Upcoming Attraction

This is the artwork for the proposed OGRES limited edition pin.  The artist's rendering show it to be quite shiny but the finish will actually be a very tough looking antique finish very similar to this pin:

The pins will be only $5 a piece.  Krome is fronting the money for the pins.  Hopefully they will be here by the May meeting on the 2nd.

OMC March 7 Meeting Report

Bomber and Babe

The meeting of the OGRES Motorcycle (and Gun) Club was brought to order (or a semblance thereof) at about 1900 hrs.  Present: Big Easy, Bomber, Rip City, Krome, Smooth, G-Man and Grim.  Not present: Duke and Zeus.

I was reminded, through experience, that two thin crust Super Supreme pizzas are not enough for the OGRES gatherings.  I will bring more next time.

Several members had brought along their personal samples of the "Bane of Barack" and they were inspected by the members for worthiness.  G-Man had brought his new black rifle sans sights, ammo, or any accoutrements.  It fits his personality that he purchased a fixer upper.  A solid foundation however.

G-Man called a motion to talk about motorcycles.

The Club then made a group call to Billingsley Creek Lodge to make accommodations for the Summer Run.  Turns out the family who had reserved a bunch of the rooms had vacated their reservation.  Many reservations were made by the members but there were a couple of rooms left if you are still bereft of housing for that evening.  More information can be found about the Summer Run at the official OMC website:

A group call was then made to the Indian Lodge Motel in Joseph, Oregon concerning rooms for the Fall Run.  Grim had already made a reservation and Krome found out his reservation had not "stuck".  Many members made reservations on the spot with G-Man getting a room with two beds for himself and Bomber.  (G-Man doesn't like to sleep alone.  Okay, really it is because he is so "tight" when he blinks his feet lift off the ground).  If you have not made your reservations for the Fall Run, you may want to call.  More information about the Fall Run can be found at the official OMC website:

A call was also put into Gretchen at the Challis Hot Springs reference accommodations for the Spring Run.  The seven rooms for the bed/breakfast are reserved for the OGRES.   The rooms are being held in Grim's name.  You don't need to call your credit card into Gretchen BUT you do need to RSVP with Grim to ensure you have a room.  G-Man and Bomber have already (you guessed it) put dibs on the room with two beds.  More information about the Spring Run can be found at the official OMC website:

G-Man showed us a picture of a weathered sign as an example of how an OGRES sign could be made for the Clubhouse.  He is going to look into this project sooner.  The members would share the cost of having the sign fabricated.

OMC Meeting Thursday March 7th at 7 p.m.

The next OMC Meeting is this coming Thursday March 7th at 7 p.m.  The meeting will be held at the Clubhouse on Fairview.  Pizza and soda will be served.  Patches and such will be available.   Hopefully the weather will cooperate so members will be able to ride their scooters.

Yeah, I know.  Only one of us has a real scooter.  Thankfully.

According to the OMC By-Laws, OMC prospects must CURRENTLY own a motorcycle manufactured by a North American owned company.  Simply stated the prospect must own a Harley-Davidson or Victory motorcycle.   I am belaboring this point to keep from wasting anyone's time with a prospect that does not meet the above criteria.  We do have one member that is grandfathered in exception to this requirement but only with his current bike.  No more exceptions will be made.

I checked with the vendor about the cost of ordering different quantities.  The cost of ordering 25 is more than if we ordered fifty.  The manufacturer asks a surcharge of $6 a coin for any quantities under 50.  They charge this due to the cost of changing out the massive dies and equipment when setting up for a new order.

Hence, the quantity of 50 would be the least we would want to order.  What I heard at the January meeting was everyone was pretty much happy with the challenge coins we were using and this was more a "nice to have" and not a "need to have".

I am good with that as I like the coin(s) we are currently using also but I wanted to throw this out for y'all to think about for the OMC meeting on March 7th.

Sorry I missed you for the Stampede game.  I was stuck in the airport at SLC waiting for a plane to come in from Denver for my last leg to Boise.  I know I missed a really great time.

A typical wonderful  gathering of the OGRES.  Again the Duke comes through with an opportunity to be enjoyed.  He bought an auction item being  the pent-house suite at the Century Link Arena.  It came complete with food and drink, personal services and even a few lovely ladies (spouses).

  

One the way there...rumblings of:  Where?...Isn’t that Taco Bell Arena...Where do we get the tickets?...Where’s the best place to park?...Who is this guy and where do we see him to get the tickets.  Your name sir?  Mayes Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm Me Mayes...We have no tickets for a Mayes….Retort! Nicolayson#$*!  Oh...Mr. Nicolayson...Well Mr. Mayes here are your tickets to Suite 107.  I look at my wife to confirm that I am a big guy ‘cause I know the Duke.  There inside waiting just like a father figure was the Duke.  One by one OGRES rolled in:  some came stag...others came with their Ogrette (soon to get nicknames). Where’s our leader?

He’s on his way!  G-Man and Cherri;  Smooth and Pat, Bomber flew in solo, Big Easy and Kay, Krome and Sonja,  Rip and Stephanie  made up an OGRES quorum.  Where’s Grim?  He’s flying in from Salt Lake, he’s coming.  Meanwhile: meat balls, hot wings , veggies, beverages galore.  Hey has the game started?

What game?  Mmmmmmm    “Rip hand me those binoculars”.  I think he is looking at the cheerleaders!  He is looking at the cheerleaders.   Hey hand those back I want to see the game.  Yeah sure both teams are taking a time out.  No I am just looking for people I know.   Down on the court?

Hey where in the heck is Grim??????    Duke finally comes clean.  Guys the man is delayed en route and will not make it!  OGRES groan together Rip says, "Hey pass the meatballs!"  Smooth is piling up the quadruple chocolate on chocolate, chocolate dessert masterpiece.    Big Easy is in a fog…what game?  Krome and Sonja (hard core basketball fans ) watch the whole 3 hours of basketball, while inviting Rip & Co. to dinner as Big Easy talks with the ladies and wolfs down the leftovers.   G-Man planned rides and made excuses for riding on bald tires.  Bomber missed his squeeze but mostly polished off the beverages  and drowned his sorrows for not being the president’s perfect OGRES pet.  CAUSE HE MISSED THE LAST MEETING!  I say Bomber it feels good doesn’t to be a little radical!  He agrees and says,  “ Next ride I am going to ride my SUZUKI!   I’ll show Mr. Grim just how bad I can be.  Of Course RIP Yamaha loves company. 

Ladies start to flock together .  Who knows what they are talking about.  But it is serious cause not even Big Easy can get their attention.  That’s big cause Big Easy can tell a story to an auctioneer while he is working!  Duke’s squeeze stayed home cause she wanted some time alone not to talk Boy Scouts.  Duke said she was packing to leave the next day.  OGRES ask?  R U goen widr.

Buzzer!!!!!!!!!!  Fire Alarm?  No you idiot the game is over!  Game……………………….? Oh yeah they’re sure not very good.  I think the cheer leaders could beat those guys.   Smooth by now has all the chocolate desserts piled high to snarf up and take home.  Is the only food this guy gets at OGRES events or is it cause Hostess is going out of business and he is low on his meds?

Wow!  Duke thanks.  When’s  the next Taco Bell event?  Oh hey let’s save that meatball for Grim!

OMC January 3rd Meeting Report

Bomber Missed His First OMC Event but I Wouldn't Mention It

The OMC January 3rd Meeting was held at the Clubhouse A at 7 p.m.  Present: Duke, Smooth, Krome, Grim, G-Man and Rip City.  Absent: Bomber (excused), Zeus (excused)  and Big Easy (unexcused, although Big Easy said he was bringing an alleged prospect).  Quiz:  Who is flakier ?.....G-Man, Big Easy, Krome or me....Never mind.

The three OMC sanctioned runs were reviewed and discussed.  Members in good standing were reminded that at least one run per year must be COMPLETED to maintain good standing in the Club.  Members in good standing were also reminded that 5 of the 6 meetings must be attended every year, unless excused, to maintain good standing in the Club.  One unexcused absence per year is the limit.

Krome has to do at least two runs this year to get off probation for missing all runs last year.  He said he is riding all three...!!!  That's why Krome is so Kool.

The yearly $25 dollar dues were paid by all except Bomber and Big Easy.  If you don't know my address to send the payment by January 30th, let me know and I will send the Sergeant at Arms to collect.  Or contact me and I will send you the address.

The meeting quiz was for G-Man to try to figure out why the number 15 is the OMC's official number. Many clues were wasted before we gave up and just told him.  I think having his rice burner in the Clubhouse upset the aura and Harley spirits usually present therefore affecting his brain.  Okay...maybe not.

Many new "15" patches were grabbed up.  Remember they can be worn "undercover" on other vests to represent quietly when preferred.  This patch is required for your official cut(s).  Remember also the only patch that can be on the center back or upper back of the cut is the main club crown patch.  Any questions, check out the OMC Club Charter on the official OMC website.

Huge and grateful kudos for Duke for fronting the money to be able to purchase all the OGRES patches.  We would not have a Club at all without Duke's generosity.  He is a fine and treasured friend.

The Duke is also the only person, not a cop, who is an honorary member of the Boise Police Association.  Thanks Duke.

Is this report long enough...?

A long awaited 1000 mile Iron Butt Run was set for June 28th and 29th.  This ride is an extra ride and does not take the place of any of the other three runs needed to maintain good standing in the OMC.  It is open to anybody or everybody invited by an OMC member in good standing.  I sorta was scared of this ride the first year but it has easily turned into one of my favorite rides.  I love this ride.  Rip City is great entertainment during the stretch by the Tri Cities.  I just hope that cute chick who thought I was John Travolta from "Wild Pigs" is at the convenience store in Missoula again.  She is so perceptive.

Lastly, Rip City brought his tech envy instrument and everyone fondled it.  Hey, it was a rifle.  Nice.  Daniel Defense's best.  Bought just in time before "Barack Goes Bonkers".  Soon to come out as a movie.

Then G-Man did some car sales but that's another blog entry.

I am sure more important philosophical wisdom and witty entendre was exchanged but if you weren't there you missed out because some genius cannot be reconstructed.

The funniest stuff was when Rip City was the only one to not answer the challenge coin challenge.  The upcoming beverages he is buying will taste especially good.

If I did not offend at least one member in doing this report, maybe Rip City can make up for it in his upcoming report on the OGRES Night at the Idaho Stampede coming your way soon.

Brian Guthrie and Alex Klokke are no longer prospects for the OGRES MC.  They can be invited for any of the runs or rides but are not welcome at the meetings.  Alex will be reconsidered when he actually buys a Harley.  Brian has basically removed himself from consideration by his absence and silence.

Was this report long enough ?  I needed one more sentence to break the Guinnesss Book of Records for the longest OMC Meeting Report.  Or maybe I drank the most Guinness to be able to write this report.

Iron Butt 2013 June 28 and 29

Iron Butt 2010

Yes, it's true.  We haven't had a 1000 mile Iron Butt ride since 2010 (see picture) on the traditional route designed by G-Man eons ago.

Hence, there will be an 1000 mile Iron Butt Ride on June 28 and 29.  The ride will start at the Chevron at Gowen/I-84 at 0600 hrs. (6 a.m.).  Promptly. 

This is not an OMC sanctioned ride nor does it take the place of the three OMC sanctioned rides.  Anybody and everybody is welcome.

The route is Boise - Pocatello - Idaho Falls - Missoula - Kellogg - Spokane - Ritzville - Tri Cities - Pendleton.  This loop is 1013 miles.  The entire ride is on the freeway but it is a very nice ride once we get past Idaho Falls.

We will spend the night in Pendleton.  If you want to make reservations, you need to do this individually.

The second day will be a leisurely ride back through the Blue Mountains along the backroads.  Very nice.  We usually leave Pendleton about 0900 hrs. (9 a.m.).

Summer Ride Lodging Alert

The OMC sanctioned summer ride is July 19th and 20th.  Rip City and I called Billingsley Creek Lodge for our reservations and found out there is limited space at the Lodge for the evening of the 19th.  There are families reserved to stay in the old motel part and so only the cabins are available.  Rip and I have already made our reservations.  As of this writing, there were three cabins left.  I would grab one.  If they run out, you will need to make your reservation at the Hagerman Valley Inn.  More info:

OGRES Night at the Idaho Stampede January 11th

It's OGRES night at the Idaho Stampede at CenturyLink Arena in downtown Boise.  The game is at 7 p.m. on Friday January 11th.  All OGRES members and their spouses are invited.  Maximum fun.  RSVP with the Duke.

OMC November 1st Meeting Report

"Fear the Beard"

OMC members present: Duke, Rip City, Bomber and Grim.  Alex (prospect) was also present.

OMC members absent: Krome, Smooth, G-Man, Big Easy and Zeus.

The meeting was held at the Duke's headquarters in former radio land.  We opened the meeting by eating specially prepared Doritos tacos.  They were very yummy.  Big thanks to Duke.  By the way, he was the only member to ride his MC to the meeting.  One member (Rip) did not wear his cut and barely wore his britches.

The new official patch was introduced and distributed for a mere $10 per patch.  If you did not attend, bring your $10 per patch to the next meeting.  This patch is also approved for wear on other vests or approved clothing items by members.  It is kind of an "undercover" way to still represent membership in the club without wearing the complete cut.  However, it is mandatory on the each member's official cut.

Special patches were presented by the P to the Duke and Rip City.  G-Man and Krome were not present to receive their special patches.  Maybe if they show up to the meeting in January.

The P brought some special "toys" to the meeting.  A short manual of arms was presented concerning each "toy" and there was some discussion about the upcoming training this spring.  The training will be $80 per person and each person will need to bring 500 rounds and at least three magazines.  The class will be limited to the first six people who commit when we have a date.

The P also sported his black beard dyed for the World Series to help support his beloved Giants.  Sweet joy after having been a die hard fan since 1968.  "Fear the Beard" is from when Brian Wilson was the closer in 2010.  He was recovering from Tommy John surgery this year but was a riot in the dugout.  Sergio Romo filled in for him admirably.

SPECIAL NOTE:  The P screwed up on the date shopping for the November meeting.  It is not fair to those who change their schedules or work their schedules around to be able to attend the mandatory OMC meetings as scheduled.  I screwed up by shopping for an alternate date this month and I apologize.  Bad President.  Please check out the meeting dates on the OMC website.  The dates listed shall be the dates the mandatory meetings will be held.  OMC members are only allowed one (1) unexcused absence.  If you need to be excused, you must notify G-Man, Duke or Grim.  A phone call or e-mail buys a lot of forgiveness.  This is all in the by-laws that have been given to all members and the by-laws are also on the OMC website.  No secrets.

Kudos to Bomber for not missing a single OGRES activity since the inception of the OMC.  You rock!

OMC Spring Run 2012

Our OMC meeting is coming up on November 1st, 2012 at the Clubhouse at 7 p.m.  Members in good standing and prospects are invited.  Guests are not welcome.

There will be a new addition to the authorized patches for the OMC cuts.  Other patches will be presented to some of the members for past activity, accomplishments or predilections.

A discussion on the firearms training will be led and some firearms choices and manual of arms presented.

Pizza and beverages will be served so show up hungry.

OMC September 14th Meeting Report

The meeting was held at Pat and Smooth's palatial estate out in the boonies.  It was a perfect night and the setting could not have been nicer.  We got to check out Smooth's railroad and several members rode the "zip line".  We were all shocked when G-Man was the last to arrive.  He did, however, manage to lock his keys in his cage.

Grim and Duke received "points" for wearing their cuts.  Big Easy and Kay were the baddest as they arrived via Electra Glide instead of a cage.

Thanks to Pat and Smooth for sharing the great good and their fantastic home for the OGRES annual barbecue.

Kudos to whoever can decipher Grim's "gang" sign.

Present: Duke, G-Man, Rip City, Grim, Big Easy, Bomber, Smooth, Kay (guest) and Ken (guest).  Absent: Zeus and Krome Pickle.

Krome Pickle came up with an new reason to miss a ride.  Breaking a femur while walking the dog while riding a bicycle.  Okay, not funny.  Well sort of in a sick way.  Sorry Krome.  Get better fast!!!

We left the Chevron at Eagle and I-94 at 8:07 a.m.  As we were rolling out, G-Man was just showing up.   Actually he would have been early if we had been leaving the next day.  As punishment, G-Man was assigned to lead for the day.  Yeah, I know.  Who was punishing who !?!?

Bomber had taken his daughter to Utah the previous day and caught up with us around Payette (I think).  I am not sure exactly where he hooked up with us but he made great time.  Bomber is the only member to have made every OMC ride, run and meeting.  That's commitment, bro.

We stopped in Haines Oregon for our midday repast (shown above).  The lunch, in my opinion, wasn't as good as the breakfast I had at that location last year.  But the company was unequaled.  Big Easy and his lovely bride, Kay, had to head back to Boise at that point.  Their company thereafter was sorely missed.

We continued taking the back roads until we finally had to ride 22 miles of freeway between Huntington and Baker City.  I fended off G-Man trying to give the lead to me until we hit the road between La Grande and Joseph.  I reminded him the Vice President was responsible for coordinating and running all meetings and events according to the By-laws.

Besides, G-Man was trying to break into the Guinness Book of Records for most stops during a 24 hour period on a motorcycle ride of less than 10 people.  The award will be given at the next OMC meeting on November 1st.

We stopped in Wallowa and waited in line for the "one holer" bathroom.  I think I had ice cream.  An old timer rolled up on a Evo Softail and started up a conversation with us like we were long lost brothers.  Such is the Harley Davidson brotherhood.  Yeah...Brotherhood.  Yeah, it's sexist and I can't apologize.

We finally made it to Joseph with the usual 20 minutes to spare before all the cool stores closed.  Bomber, Smooth, G-Man and Rip City managed to still grab up some very cool tin signs for their living rooms at home.

We checked into Walter Brennan's former motel and settled our stuff into our rooms.

Everyone went shopping and such until it was time for dinner.  They did not have a Shrimp Melt on the menu but everyone found something to eat.  We also had a fashion show by Rip City where the new "FS" collection was displayed and discussed.

Duke and I walked around Main Street checking out the sites.  There were more bronze statues than I remembered.   Everyone else rode out to Wallowa Lake and checked out the hotel and such for possible use next year.

Late evening found Smooth, Rip City and myself playing some cards.  We played until Smooth and I had to start telling Rip City when to fold so we would not take advantage of RC's grogginess.  New Rule: When Rip City is too tired to shuffle the cards...the game is over.  Smooth was the big winner and I lost $1.85.

Morning found us at the Cheyenne cafe having the usual great breakfast.  We then hit the road and headed for Hell's Canyon with the Prez back in the lead.  The overlook at Hell's Canyon was very popular with mc riders of many stripes.

The ride from Joseph to Cambridge was especially nice with low traffic and temperatures adding to pleasure of riding the twisty roads through the pine trees.  Nirvana on two wheels...!  My Street Glide outperforms my former Fatboys in a big way through the curves and the ABS brakes are now a must on my bikes.

We stopped in Cambridge for lunch at a restaurant with a funny name I can't remember now.  I tried to google the name but still can't remember.  Good food though.  Best salad bar in town.

We continued down to Payette where Bomber and G-Man went straight when the rest of the OGRES turned east to head Emmett way.  A vote will be taken to see if Bomber and G-Man get credit for this ride since they did not finish the ride but abandoned near the end. ;)

As usual, I was not ready to go home.  I stopped at Massacre Park on Lincoln Road by Middleton Road and had a bottle of water to delay ending the ride.  That is the magic of riding the HD motor scooter.  Too much is never enough.

That's all I got and it is probably too much and not enough.  I try to file this report in a more timely manner but I couldn't get anyone to send me pictures.

If I didn't offend at least one reader, then I didn't do a very good job on this report.
